Hi my name is Joshua Dearien. I was born and raised in Durango, Colorado where I was exposed to a culture of great acceptance and little cultural diversity. I come from two musicians, who played the most influential part in my love for music while they surrounded me in many genres from an early age. My mom being a classical pianist and my dad drumming for a punk band, is what made me who I am. My passion for music didn't develop immediately. However, it was always there. I spent many years as a youth competitive sponsored snowboarder. I held my place in the top 10 of the country for almost 6 years before my heart slowly shifted somewhere else. I bought my first DJ controller in the sixth grade and by seventh grade I was in love with something so creative and limitless, something that fit me and shaped the rest of my personality. Music Production took over my life through middle school and by my freshman year I had a full home studio. I picked up piano and learned about 5 or 6 years worth in 7 months, while gaining tons of knowledge on music theory. The piano for me is a symbol of love and pain, each strike of a key puts a sense of emotional euphoria in my entire body. I always had drum sets around and grew up watching my dad drum insanely fast and loud. Middle school band introduced me to my natural feel for the drums. Since sixth grade I have been playing and I am now also the drummer of a punk band. Hip hop. Poetry. Rhythm and melody. All things that developed my passion and influence even more than I could know. The craft of writing a hip hop song made me want to go straight to the 90s, where I could find important things like Lyricism, Tessellation, Meaning, Metaphors, and Biggie. Specific emotions derived from specific genres, artist, albums, songs and even melodies keep me pushing towards my own sounds. I want to provide that euphoria for other people, and that is where I learned to love producing.
